About the Chapter

Introduction

Welcome! We are the Central Texas-Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).

We are a proud part of a vital national association with more than 100,000 members in 120 chapters located throughout the US and overseas.

We exist to speak for the US Army - the entire Army - Active, Reserve, National Guard, Officer, NCO, Enlisted and Retired, plus the Army’s Family members, civilian employees and the Central Texas communities and businesses that support our Army.

We are one of five chapters in Texas (others are in Austin, Dallas, El Paso and San Antonio). Our  primary area of coverage are the counties of Bell, Bosque, Brown, Coryell, Falls, Comanche, Hamilton, Lampasas, Hill, Limestone, McLennan, Mills, Robertson, San Saba, Somerville, and that portion of Williamson County to the city limits south of Florence, Texas. But we also have proud members from elsewhere in the US - and overseas - individuals or business firms that choose to be identified with this chapter and with Fort Hood.

Your interest and involvement is important - especially now - as we confront international terrorism, ongoing military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and force structure or repositioning changes directed by Army Transformation or the 2005 Base Realignment and Closures Commission.

Locally, our chapter is strong, with over 14,000 members — and our leaders are all volunteers. People join to show their support for America’s Army, their concern for soldier family quality of life issues and because our economy is so closely tied to the Fort Hood.

Our chapter operates on Fort Hood with the approval of the installation commander, and in accordance with pertinent DA and DOD instructions. When Central Texans want to stay connected to Fort Hood, one truly successful way is through membership in and active involvement with AUSA.

This chapter was established in 1958 and from our earliest days, we have provided a continuous, informal and highly effective link between Fort Hood and its surrounding communities.

We focus on supporting our Soldiers and their families and would welcome you joining our team.

For the latest, you might go the News & Photos Sections of this site, visit our offices in the Fort Hood National Bank building (Hood Road), call Chapter President Marty Smith at 254-547-7571 or e-mail us at leadership@forthoodausa.org.

And again, welcome!
